Additionally, basketball provides a fun and competitive alternative to more traditional methods of fitness and weight loss.Our men's group enjoys fairly serious games on Saturday mornings 8:30- 10:30 AM at Pelligrini Park.

The basketball movement among older adults is exciting but not surprising. For some, it's an opportunity to exercise and socialize; for others, it's a once-denied chance to compete. Additionally, basketball provides a fun and competitive alternative to more traditional methods of fitness and weight loss.Our men's group enjoys fairly serious games on Saturday mornings 8:30- 10:30 AM at Pelligrini Park.

Courts at the Cooper Center are on a wooden basketball court and are lined for pickleball.  The court length and width dimensions are the same as a badminton court.  Badminton nets will be set up, but there are no singles lines and the service line is a few inches different on the pickleball court. Our Drop In badminton program allows players to practice their skills in a fun environment.  Individuals meet up to play doubles round robin style games with each other.  Nets will be set up, but participants must bring their own racket and shuttlecocks.  Pre-registration is required online before coming to the facility.  Register early to guarantee your space.   When offered, the beginner/intermediate drop in program is for ages 10 and older.  Players attending this session should have at least the basic skills of serving and being able to hit the shuttlecock back and forth over the net several times in a rally.     Our regular Drop In badminton program is geared towards intermediate to advanced players ages 13 and older who have experience playing and can accurately hit a variety of shots while moving around the court.   Courts at Newton North Indoor Recreation Center are a hard rubber surface and are located in the SOA. Courts at the Cooper Center are on a wooden basketball court and are lined for pickleball.  The court length and width dimensions are the same as a badminton court.  Badminton nets will be set up, but there are no singles lines and the service line is a few inches different on the pickleball court.
