Tanglewood Marionettes’ production of Sleeping Beauty begins with a briefdemonstration of the art of puppetry. Through humorous interplay, the audience willlearn about various forms of puppets, from the simple glove puppet to thesophisticated marionette.A classic tale that appeals to children of all ages, Sleeping Beauty begins inKing Felix’s great hall with the celebration of Princess Aurora’s birth. The partygoes awry when the wicked witch arrives and curses Princess Aurora. Will thecurse come true? Will someone with a “true heart” appear? You will know whenyou see Tanglewood Marionettes’ presentation of this beloved tale.In this retelling, a painted story book opens to reveal each scene. Beautifullyhand-crafted marionettes are brought to life by a master puppeteer as thedramatic events unfold. Performance at Newton City Hall War Memorial Auditorium, 1000 Commonwealth Ave. Advance ticket purchase is recommended and is available until 12pm on April 24. Advance tickets are $10; tickets purchased at the door are $15 while supplies last. Tickets are required for each person over the age of 12 months old. Children younger than 12 months may sit on lap of caregiver. A limited number of tickets are available through the Newton Arts Pass program (for families in need of financial assistance).
