Parks, Recreation & Culture is pleased to offer School year youth swimming lessons held at the Newton North High School Pool. Classes will be held weekends mornings and we are offering three sessions throughout the year. Each session will be a six week program. Please note dates below where classes are not held due to holidays/vacation weeks.Schedule Session 1: November 30 to January 11 (No class held on 12/28)*Session 1 will open for registration on Oct 1 at 9am. By giving them the opportunity to master one element before moving on to the next, our kids' swim classes make it easy to build confidence in the water.Program Notes:On the first day of the session, the instructors will evaluate each student to ensure they are in the right class level. In general, if your child needs to be moved to a more appropriate level, staff can make a transfer. Please arrive early the first week to check in with the Head Instructor and get familiar with the facility. Enter the high school at the Main Entrance on Tiger Drive. Parks, Recreation & Culture is pleased to offer School year youth swimming lessons held at the Newton North High School Pool. Classes will be held weekends mornings and we are offering three sessions throughout the year. Each session will be a six week program. Please note dates below where classes are not held due to holidays/vacation weeks.Schedule Session 1: November 30 to January 11 (No class held on 12/28)*Session 1 will open for registration on Oct 1 at 9am. Registration for sessions 2&3 will be announced.  Session 2: January 18 to March 1 (No class held on 2/15)Session 3: March 15 to May 3 (No classes held on 4/5 & 4/19)Registration Fee:Newton Residents: $180Non- Residents: $215Register below. If this is your first time enrolling in a Parks, Recreation & Culture Program, please create a household account.About the Program:The Swim Lesson Program will be taught by Swim Instructors. The lessons will follow an American Red Cross curriculum, adjusted to each class as necessary. We offer a variety of levels from preschool aquatics to level 6. The Learn-to-Swim program focuses on building skills one step at a time. By giving them the opportunity to master one element before moving on to the next, our kids' swim classes make it easy to build confidence in the water.Program Notes:On the first day of the session, the instructors will evaluate each student to ensure they are in the right class level. In general, if your child needs to be moved to a more appropriate level, staff can make a transfer. Please arrive early the first week to check in with the Head Instructor and get familiar with the facility. Enter the high school at the Main Entrance on Tiger Drive. We will have a staff member on the first day to direct you to the pool area.Locker rooms, changing areas, showers and restrooms are available for swimmers & parents.If you have questions about your child's swim lessons, please see the Head Instructor.What to bring: swim suit & a towel. Goggles optional.All participants must be fully toilet trained to swim in the high school pool.A parent or guardian must remain at the facility during your child's lesson. There is seating on the pool deck and the upstairs observation area. There are no makeup classes offered for students who miss a scheduled class.In the event of a facility closure, such as a snow storm, you will be issued a refund for the value of the missed class.
