Play doubles round robin style games with other pickelball players at the Newton South Indoor Recreation Complex.  3 courts will be set up on hardwood floors, and 1 set up on a hard rubber surface.  Please note that the lines on the hardwood floor court are light tan, so markers will be placed to help distinguish the lines.     Players must pre-register for either the full session or individual weeks.  We will not allow on-site registration.  Space is limited so register early.This program will follow all City guidelines for covid.  Currently, masks are required indoors by everyone.  We will update this policy if the City updates it's policy.

Newton Parks & Recreation is pleased to offer open basketball nights at the Newton North High School Facility. Participants will have access to the Reggie Hard Court Competition Gym. The program is open to adults playing friendly pick up games.  For 2021-2022 School year, basketball nights will be held Wednesdays 8:15pm-9:15pmEnter the facility through the main entrance on Tiger Drive. Check in with recreation staff and proceed to the gym in the athletic wing. Restrooms will be open but please note water fountains may be off due to pandemic precautions. Please bring your own water and clean shoes to wear on the hard court. COVID-19 Regulations. Per City of Newton: Facemasks are required to be work inside public spaces.  Please register below. There will be two sessions offered: Session #1: Wednesdays November 3rd to January 19th Session #2: Wednesdays January 26th to April 6th  Cancellations: Due to snow storms or high school events, there may be times when the program has to be changed or cancelled for the night. An email will be sent our in the event of a facility closure. Note:* If Newton Public Schools is closed, the recreation programs are also closed that day No basketball in the following days: November 24th (Thanksgiving break), December 29th (Christmas Break), February 23rd ( School Vacation)

Come and explore the woodlands of Nahanton Park and become familiar with the 5 arts of tracking.  Learn to read animal tracks and signs as well as locate animal trails, beds, chews, etc.  These things allow us to become aware of and better understand our wild friends that we share the park with.Earth Spirit Eco-Adventures has over 25 years of experience providing programming in the areas of environmental education, youth leadership, outdoor adventure, wilderness living skills and nature connection programming.  We're looking forward to working with them to provide environmental education programs at Nahanton Park.

The lessons will follow an American Red Cross curriculum, adjusted to each class as necessary.The Learn-to-Swim program focuses on building skills one step at a time. By giving them the opportunity to master one element before moving on to the next, our kids' swim classes make it easy to build confidence in the water.Notes for Parents:On the first day of the session, the instructors will evaluate each student to ensure they are in the right class levelPlease arrive early the first week to check in with the Head Instructor and get familiar with the facility.Check in with the staff member in the Lobby. Enter the high school thru the Main Entrance at Tiger Drive.Locker rooms, changing areas, showers and restrooms are available for swimmers & parents.If you have questions about your child's swim lessons, please see the Head Instructor.What to bring: swim suit & a towel. Newton Parks & Recreation is pleased to offer open basketball nights at the Newton North High School Facility. Participants will have access to the Reggie Hard Court Competition Gym. The program is open to adults playing friendly pick up games.  For 2021-2022 School year, basketball nights will be held Wednesdays 8:15pm-9:15pmEnter the facility through the main entrance on Tiger Drive. Check in with recreation staff and proceed to the gym in the athletic wing. Restrooms will be open but please note water fountains may be off due to pandemic precautions. Please bring your own water and clean shoes to wear on the hard court. COVID-19 Regulations. Per City of Newton: Facemasks are required to be work inside public spaces.  Please register below. There will be two sessions offered: Session #1: Wednesdays November 3rd to January 19th Session #2: Wednesdays January 26th to April 6th  Cancellations: Due to snow storms or high school events, there may be times when the program has to be changed or cancelled for the night. An email will be sent our in the event of a facility closure. Newton Parks & Recreation is pleased to offer open basketball nights at the Newton North High School Facility. Participants will have access to the Reggie Hard Court Competition Gym. The program is open to adults playing friendly pick up games.  For 2021-2022 School year, basketball nights will be held Wednesdays 8:15pm-9:15pmEnter the facility through the main entrance on Tiger Drive. Check in with recreation staff and proceed to the gym in the athletic wing. Restrooms will be open but please note water fountains may be off due to pandemic precautions. Please bring your own water and clean shoes to wear on the hard court. COVID-19 Regulations. Per City of Newton: Facemasks are required to be work inside public spaces.  Please register below. There will be two sessions offered: Session #1: Wednesdays November 3rd to January 19th Session #2: Wednesdays January 26th to April 6th  Cancellations: Due to snow storms or high school events, there may be times when the program has to be changed or cancelled for the night. An email will be sent our in the event of a facility closure. Parks, Recreation & Culture is pleased to offer Winter Swim Lessons held at the Newton North High School Pool. Swimming Lessons will be held on Sunday mornings only.Session #2 Schedule:Sunday Mornings February 6th - April 10th*No class on February vacation weekends -2/20&2/27Registration Fee:$165.00 per child, no pool membership required for Winter Swim Lessons About the Program:The Swim Lesson Program will be taught by Swim Instructors and their assistants. The lessons will follow an American Red Cross curriculum, adjusted to each class as necessary.The Learn-to-Swim program focuses on building skills one step at a time. By giving them the opportunity to master one element before moving on to the next, our kids' swim classes make it easy to build confidence in the water.Notes for Parents:On the first day of the session, the instructors will evaluate each student to ensure they are in the right class levelPlease arrive early the first week to check in with the Head Instructor and get familiar with the facility.Check in with the staff member in the Lobby. Enter the high school thru the Main Entrance at Tiger Drive.Locker rooms, changing areas, showers and restrooms are available for swimmers & parents.If you have questions about your child's swim lessons, please see the Head Instructor.What to bring: swim suit & a towel. Goggles optional.*All participants must be fully toilet trained to swim in the high school poolAquatics Refund & Cancellation Policy Programs: Enrollment in a Parks, Recreation & Culture Aquatics program including, but not limited to, swimming lessons, swim team and lifeguard training courses are final. Once the session has started, there are no refunds given should the participant withdraw or not attend. In the event you need to cancel your enrollment, it must be done at least 7 days in advance from the start of the program and you will be refunded minus a $10.00 administration fee. In the event of a serious medical illness or injury, a refund may be issued on a case by case basis by contacting the program manager.Cancellations: In the event a program needs to be cancelled by the department (ex: severe weather, facility closure etc), the participant will receive a refund for value of the missed program. The refund will be issued via check from Newton City Hall. There are no makeup classes or credits given if the participant does not attend their scheduled lesson or program. By giving them the opportunity to master one element before moving on to the next, our kids' swim classes make it easy to build confidence in the water.Notes for Parents:On the first day of the session, the instructors will evaluate each student to ensure they are in the right class levelPlease arrive early the first week to check in with the Head Instructor and get familiar with the facility.Check in with the staff member in the Lobby. Enter the high school thru the Main Entrance at Tiger Drive.Locker rooms, changing areas, showers and restrooms are available for swimmers & parents.If you have questions about your child's swim lessons, please see the Head Instructor.What to bring: swim suit & a towel. Goggles optional.*All participants must be fully toilet trained to swim in the high school poolAquatics Refund & Cancellation Policy Programs: Enrollment in a Parks, Recreation & Culture Aquatics program including, but not limited to, swimming lessons, swim team and lifeguard training courses are final. Once the session has started, there are no refunds given should the participant withdraw or not attend. In the event you need to cancel your enrollment, it must be done at least 7 days in advance from the start of the program and you will be refunded minus a $10.00 administration fee. In the event of a serious medical illness or injury, a refund may be issued on a case by case basis by contacting the program manager.Cancellations: In the event a program needs to be cancelled by the department (ex: severe weather, facility closure etc), the participant will receive a refund for value of the missed program. The refund will be issued via check from Newton City Hall. There are no makeup classes or credits given if the participant does not attend their scheduled lesson or program.
