Summer Camp Cancellation and Refund Policy
Summer camp registration will begin on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 for Newton residents (March 1st for non residents) and continue until programs fill.
All summer camp registrations include a $30.00 non-refundable deposit per week as part of their registration. Some programs require payment in full at the time of registration, while others only require the $30.00 deposit.
Camp Cancellations
There will be no refund of your deposit. We do understand, however, that sometimes plans change so you will have until March 15th to make any changes to the weeks you have registered for. If you cancel out of weeks but are still registered for another week at the same camp, the deposit that you have already paid will be applied to the remaining weeks of that camp and lower your balance due. If you cancel any weeks after March 15th the deposit will not be applied to the other weeks and you will lose it.
Deposits are non-transferrable from camp to camp or child to child, so if you cancel out completely from one camp you cannot use that deposit towards another camp or a different child.
Final balances are due by May 15th. After May 15th, we will only be able to do a refund (minus the $30.00 non-refundable deposit) if we are able to fill the space. Weeks with unpaid balances after May 15th will be cancelled. Payment plans are available for families that require additional time to pay their balance before camp starts.
Please email the camp manager in charge of the program if you need assistance.
Program Cancellations
If Newton Parks, Recreation & Culture cancels a program completely, we will do a full refund for that program. If part of a program is cancelled due to extreme weather, we will try to offer a make-up class for that program. If a make-up is not possible we will do a check refund for the cancelled day. If a program runs or is re-scheduled, refunds will not be issued for that day.
Missed Days of a Program
We understand that people have a lot of commitments and can’t always make each day of a program. Please understand that we still have to pay instructors, building fees, order supplies, etc for our programs so we do not pro-rate, refund or credit programs for days that you miss.
Serious Illness or Injury
In some situations we may be able to issue a refund for remaining days of a program if you are unable to attend a program because of a serious illness or injury if written medical verification from your physician is received within 7 days. This is dependent on if the vendor/instructor/program is able to refund a portion of the paid cost and/or if we are able to fill the space. Refunds will not be given for multi week programs if you need to miss one or two weeks of the program.
Inappropriate Behavior
If a person is dismissed from a program because of inappropriate or aggressive behavior, no refund will be issued.
