This program is currently unavailable. Click here to view all of our current programs.

Celebrate national bat week October 24 - 31 and discover the benefits of bats at Nahanton Park Nature Center.  Learn about where bats live, how they help to control the pest population, how some use echolocation to find their way in the dark, hear some fun facts about bats, learn some dangers that bats face and more.  Take a hike to locate bat houses in the park and do a fun bat craft.

Want to build a bat house to take home?  Sign up for the option with the bat house and receive 1 bat house kit per family.  Kits include everything you need to build your bat house including cedar wood, a shingled roof, pre drilled nail holes and instructions.  Finished bat houses have two chambers and measure 6" deep x 7.5" wide x 19.5" tall and can accommodate up to 20 bats.

This is a family program.  Please register 1 adult and list additional family members that will be joining you.

This program will run outside in the outdoor classroom at Nahanton Park Nature Center unless it is raining.  If it is raining, we will use the nature center building as a backup location.  We will follow all current City guidelines for Covid including requiring masks indoors.  When outdoors, masks are recommended but not required if participants maintain social distancing.

* Adjustments and discounts will be applied during checkout if applicable. *
