The Newton Parks & Recreation Department offers Weekend swim lessons during the school year held at the Newton North High School Pool.

Swim Lesson Fees

$80.00 for residents of Newton, $100.00 for non-residents. Fees must be paid in full and are non-refundable once the session has begun.

Winter Session #2 Dates

Begins the weekend of February 8th/9th
Concludes on the weekend of April 4th/5th.
There will be no classes held on February 22nd/23rd due to the school vacation week.

There are no refunds or makeup classes for students that miss a day of class. In the event the facility is closed (ex: snowstorm) you will receive a credit applied to your account that can be used for any Parks & Recreation program including future swim lessons. 

Program Information 

The Swim Program will be taught by Swim Instructors and their assistants. The lessons will follow an American Red Cross curriculum, adjusted to each class as necessary.

On the first day of the session, the instructors will evaluate each student to ensure they are in the right class level

Please arrive early the first week to check in with the Head Instructor and get familiar with the pool

Please enter the High School through the athletic entrance (By Hull Street)

Locker rooms with showers and restrooms are available for swimmers & parentsIf you have questions about your child's swim lessons, please see the Head Instructor who will be on the pool deck

All children in the High School pool must be at least 4 years of age and fully toilet trained

In the event the pool or building is closed and classes are cancelled, Parks & Recreation will send you an email as soon as possible

What to bring- swim suit & a towel (goggles and swim cap optional)
